This is a big, heavy, powerful RC helicopter. Make no mistake, it will hurt you if it hits you in flight.
At night, flying is awesome because of the spectacular light show. The wind is usually calmer at night, which is what this bird needs. If you fly it with the slightest breeze, the wind will take it away.
Flight time is about 5-6 minutes, and recharge time is 3 hours. Make sure you let the battery cool before you recharge it. Although fun to fly, the heli suffers from serious blade interference and stability problems:
When flying, the "B" blades flex upwards, and come very close to the path of the balance bar. If the heli tilts a bit in flight in any direction, the balance bar will hit the "B" blades with the result that you will crash and then need one or more "B" blades. This can happen with a gentle gust of wind.
Also, if you descend any faster than a slow rate, the heli may start rocking back and forward, causing blade interference and a crash. Also, once the heli starts going down, it's going to keep going down even with full power. Remember, it's heavy. Descend very slowly.
I modified my heli to solve the blade interference problem. I bent the balance bar very carefully upwards about 3/4 inch on both sides. This must be done accurately to prevent vibration. I rarely have blade interference now.
Other than that, it's a rugged heli. It got stuck in a tree hanging by the tail rotor once. I was able to power it loose and it crashed more than 60' to the ground. I picked up and it looked undamaged. I applied power and it hovered and flew perfectly.
This heli is not for kids. It's really for adults. And, it's fun to fly if you understand its limitations.

The helicopter arrived very quickly and my son and I were eager for a test. Removed it from the box, charged the battery, and before attempting our first take off, I held the helicopter in one hand and throttled her up to test functions, etc.. Well, that's when I realized I got a dud. The shaft for the lower rotor slips at the main gear. Therefore, the lower rotor spins at a greatly reduced speed that no amount of trim adjustment can compensate for. Due to the slippage, there's not enough lift to get the chopper off the ground anyway. I contacted the seller immediately and repackaged the item. I'm hoping the seller (Airsoft Joe) issues an RGA quickly and gets an exchange going and pays for return shipping. (Update 8-3-11: I'm stuck paying for the return shipping and possibly a 20% restocking fee for a defective item. I'm hoping the seller clears this up yet). I hope to get a working replacement, and to be able to write a more favorable review. Perhaps this is just a rare lemon?
UPDATE: Replacement unit works well for a heli of this size and price point. Any breeze will bring her down in a less than graceful fashion! Good starter unit for outdoor flight. Updating to 4 stars.

I received this helicopter for Christmas. Although it had always been my dream as a teenager to have a remote controlled boat, this chopper gave me the joy in my 40s. It is very light weight and picks up great speed. I especially like the way it hovers. I must say that at first it was hard to learn to fly this thing. Then I figured out what the center button does. Right after it takes off, the helicopter starts to spin in the air. To stop it from the spinning, you have to slowly turn the button in the opposite direction in which the helicopter spins. Once you get it to stand still in the air, you use the other levers to control it. I love it, and my friends do too! Highly recommended.
