This heli is a great step up for someone who is looking to advance from a fixed pitch heli.
No, it doesn't have the sexy flybarless head. But look at what you get for what it costs. In the Blade world, this costs the same as the flybarless 130 sized heli.
This heli comes reasonably well rigged, and is ready to fly out of the box with a normal going over. The stock wood blades are not high performance, but they splinter easily on impact and save the head from damage. I'd suggest you buy similar replacements since they do a great job of protecting the head in a crash.
Its got plenty of power and I'm getting over 6 min of flight doing basic sport flying. Stability is best described as neutral in all 3 axis-es. If you roll, pitch or yaw it, it stays where you put it until you put in opposite input. Its just solid in the air and is pretty unaffected by wind.
Finally, its a Blade. This means that it won't have all the fancy aluminum in the head. Thats a plus if you are learning. With aluminum, you have to diagnose if a part is bent after a ccrash and determine if it is causing the heli to handle improperly. With plastic, the part either breaks or springs back to its original shape. Simple. Also, parts are cheap and readily available both online and at local hobby shops. Also, Blade has pretty good on-line and phone support. I prefer phone, they allow you to leave a call back number after a minute or two on hold, then a few minutes later someone calls you back when its your turn in the queue.
Overall, this is a good solid purchase if you are looking for a solid heli on a budget, without a lot of bling, but with a lot of performance and substance.

I bought this heli after learning to fly CP (collective pitch) on Phoenix SIM, also I had an mCPX V2, an 120 sr and a mSRX. It is a very nice heli, you need big space to fly it, since it's very fast and it can step lots of meters away from you in few seconds. Using it for learning the very basics is possible but crashes usually means broken parts and lots of adjustments so for starting is better an mCPX or a 130X. Once you learn the basics the 450 3D it wonderful, very crisp and neat, also very stable. With DX6i I recommend to use intermediate settings and a bit more of expo (+30) on Aileron and Elevator. Then when you feel more comfortable change settings to a faster and more sensitive DR and EXPO. I like this Heli very much. Recently I tried an Align 450 3D and yes is more touchy and very precise in its movements but spare parts, settings and maintenance is more expensive and difficult (for a begginer). In Brief: Blade 450 3D helicopter is a very nice 450 size heli, not so expensive to repair and buy, much better than cheap brands without good support, also very powerful and nice looking, and when binded to a good spectrum radio it turns on a very customizable heli. Very recommended when you know a bit of CP flying.

I am flying a Blade MXC2 sub-micro and learning the basics of flying via the Phoenix flight simulator. I am anxious to move up.
Been doing research on my next purchase/upgrade for a 3D heli. I learned that for me, the Blade 450 BNF is the way to go. The only issue for someone upgrading to the 450 from Amazon, is that the description mentions accurately the transmitter is not included yet fails to mention that this heli also requires a battery, a charger and the power supply for that charger.
It would be nice if Amazon could create/include some sort of package deal that includes some of these options e.g. suggested batteries, chargers etc and perhaps a case too.
