As an owner of several sailboats in the 1 meter class I can say that the other two reviews are probably from those with limited r/c sail experience. So let me offer a little advice to those considering this boat;
1. This is a 1 meter boat, it is large and heavy. From keel to winch it is over 6' tall, and it has considerable heft to it. As with most 1 meter boats is has a substantial keel, the large sail area dictates a deep heavy heel, but it is not more so than most 1 meter boats. There are a lot of adjustments that will need to be made every time the boat makes the water, just like a real sailboat, you have to tune it to your conditions. This is not a shallow water boat, if you want something for a pond then please look into a 26" boat like the Paradise.
2. It sails great in winds from 3 knots to about 6 knots but is prone to heel in winds above that. This is where sail tuning comes into play, and experience is necessary. Many of us who have this boat have added extra weight into the stern section to help prevent porpoising the bow in stiff winds. Check with a sailing forum to see how that's done.
3. Many experienced buyers will replace the arm servo with a winch sail servo, I've had my Vela for 18 months with the OEM arm servo and had no problems. Some people have also claimed their boats leak, this is often through the hatch when the boat is heeled way over beyond normal. If you have a leak try putting some Vasoline around the hatch seal first to see if that stops the leak, if it doesn't then check the rudder post and then the keel hole. If you're worried about sinking the boat you can apply some styrofoam blocks into the bow area, you may lose the radio but you won't lose the boat.

I own this sailboat and have some experience with this type and size of boat. First: The kit is OK for the price (includes the radio/receiver $100). Second: Some changes need to be made. Throw out the sail wench. Get a Hitec HS-785HB, it has about 3.5 turns of "drum" high torque (use a minimum 5 cell battery pack at a least 1500mha). Those arm servos are for small boats. You need the 3.5 turns to move the sails to full hauled in and out/wing on wing. That movement is about 10 to 11 inches. The kit arm servo movement is 7 inches. Move the spacers on the underside of the hatch to the top of side of the hatch latches. The hatch will not lock down water tight if you leave as is (if you have this box setup). Make sure the rudder post has a good flat spot for the tiller arm screw. Add an extra line to the top rear of the mainsail and attache this line to the center position of upper stay between the jib stay and the back stay. This will help keep the rear of the mainsail a little tighter. The upper line of the jib keeps the jib a little to far forward of the mast, so I am going to add a string to pull the line in about 3 inches down from the top stay to bring the jib closer. I also added a small eye-screw to the tiller cover just in front of the second roller to help keep the sail lines in place. Last, a little CA glue added to the stand assembly points will help.

The keel is very deep (45cm / 1.5ft) and not for any water shallower than 2 feet. If you are not able to sail her on a deep pond or lake, then look at alternative models with shorter keel.
