This is a great remote control model. I have enjoyed this plane for 8 months.
Note: There is a powerful electric motor inside, you can be seriously hurt. Be sure to seek help with this from your local RC Model club.
I got this plane at a local shop. Picked up the ready to fly kit.
Easy to assemble but, the kit did not include any glue. No big deal but you will need to get foam safe epoxy and cyanoacrylate glue.
The manual is excellent, no issues.
Kit includes a 3200mAh battery, which if your gentle on the throttle, you can achieve +30min flight time.
The charger is a little "left to be desired". It will get the job done but if you get serious, make the investment into a good balance charger.
The only "upgrade" made was to the wheels. The kit includes foam wheels which are to small in diameter for where I fly it. I upgraded these to the Du-Bro 2.25" #225TL for the rear and a #225T for the front. A consequence of this is a little bit more weight, but landings are much improved on the gravel.
Flight characteristics are predictable. It is about the size and shape of the traditional .40 trainer, so it is slow and forgiving.
It is a BIG foamy but very light, so it can be a significant challenge in even moderate wind. Adding a second battery help immensely, even if it is not plugged in. The added weight keeps the plane from bobbing around.
There is also a hi-low rate switch on the transmitter which helps slow the responsiveness significantly. This too helps smooth-out pilot jitters. Also, when I assembled it, I put all of the control linkage in the last hole of the control horns, which further reduces the control sensitivity.
USE the battery straps! You have been warned.
Problems:
Most of the problems with the plane are pilot induced. That is, I caused them.
However, there is a bulletin for the plastic caps on the ends of the metal bars that go through the fuselage for the rubber bands to hook onto. The caps have been show to come off the ends of the bars. So, when you glue the main wing together during the assembly, be sure to dab a little on the caps.
I have crashed this guy a few times, in fact it is waiting to be repaired now. Every time I am amazed at how well it takes my abuse.
That being said, there are a few things to look for:
Hard landings will loosen the battery box and bend the nose gear. Both of these are easy to fix, but be careful about the screw the holds the nose gear. The wheel is held in place with a a screw that threads through plastic, too much torque and the plastic will strip-out. To fix the battery box, use some epoxy
Over time the servos will get loose. Again a little epoxy will stiffen up the mounting.
The clevises are plastic. In one of the more serious crashes, the pin in the rudder clevis was sheered off. Finding the part locally was impossible because the clevis is 0-80 gauge, not 4-40. So the linkage had to be redesigned.

I sent the following email to the company that makes this plane. I figured I should put it here too:
Hey I just wanted to write you guys and let you know how friggin' awesome I think the Apprentice is. Me and a buddy just recently took up RC flying. We put in about 10 hours apiece on the Clearview flight simulator and then brought the Apprentice out to the field. Over a period of three days, we absolutely crushed that plane. Each time, whether it be a split tail, broken wing or clean break on the fuselage, we'd simply go back to the house, apply some 1-hour epoxy, maybe a little duct tape and return to the field. I am dead serious that these are the following damages we inflicted on this plane: one clean wing break all the way through (getting it out of a tree), three gouges in top surface of wing from hitting a sports field light pole, three 100% breaks in the fuselage, two complete "firewall" breaks, one smashed engine bracket and one destroyed prop. ALL of these were fixed with epoxy and duct tape, with the exception of the prop, which cost me $4. I have duct-taped the cowling back together four times. Despite it's wafer-thin plastic construction, that cowling holds with duct-tape from the inside beautifully. This plane flies just as good, nay perhaps better even, at this point. It's like the mad max car of airplanes. The only reason I didn't fly it today is because the already repaired engine mount finally met it's match. At this point, I can fly the Apprentice quite competently, crashing only when I do ultra-stupid and risky moves. But for basically $0 in repair costs, learning to do the hard stuff is easy. The Apprentice is the perfect RC trainer because it gives you four channels, lots of power, and a plane that will continue to fly even if its owner is inexperienced, brutal, stupid and risky like I have been. I get my new engine mount ($4.99) on wednesday and me and this baby will be back out at the field being awesome. Excellent product!

I've tried to fly RC planes several times over the course of my life. All times were met with failures and crashes.
Started with Phoenix simulator about a year ago, moved up to a hobbyzone supercub last spring (that I still have and it survived learning and still works great).
And today I got my Apprentice, opened box, charged battery, checked adjustments, flew successfully about 24 hours after I bought it online on Amazon and Red Rocket Hobbies.
It was almost too easy after all these years!
Find a big field though, it flies so well and fast you'll be covering a lot of ground right away.
