I have been waiting for like 20 years to buy a nitro car. My brothers and I used to run Tamiya and TA electric cars back when we were in high school(and later). So I'm familiar with breaking/fixing hobby cars especially since I like to really run them at their edge. It would be nice to just gas and go and not have to charge batteries all the time.
I really like this one. It was a pretty good deal compared to the other brands and there are a lot of how-to videos up on the Redcat Racing web site. So I had a lot of info ahead of time to know how to break it in etc. The break-in went pretty easy once I pulled the pull starter enough while plugging the exhaust port to get the fuel primed. Tuning wasn't so bad either since I watched the videos on the web site and knew what to listen/watch for etc. Making only 1/8 turns on the high end like they suggest really helps.
It did breat a few times, a lot of them were easy to fix and others I had to get some parts for. This I was used to when I did the hobby electric cars. So what broke you say, well the first couple thing were screws that worked their way out. So I did as they suggested and got some blue loctite to prevent that the next time. One on the axle pieces broke to, but the parts were only a few bucks so I bought some spares to. I did have one of the fuel lines crack at the end, but I easily trimmed that and was good to go. The biggest thing that broke was the pullstarter two days ago, but I had been meaning to get one of the electric starters and found one at a local hobby store. The Exceed branded one is almost exactly like the Redcat model. Now I won't get blisters from the pullstart anymore; but honestly once I got it tuned after the break-in it was pretty easy to use the pullstarter... now it's cake. There are other 3rd party backing plates you can get and just use a common drill to start the car. My drill will be used as backup :)
It came with a 2.4 Ghz remote and I've never lost contact with the car, I usually have to turn it back around because it's getting too far for me to see it.
The truck goes like 40 mph so I wouldn't get this for anyone less than a teen and you'll need to be mechanically adept to maintain it and fix it ocassionally. It's really fun to drive and has been a nice diversion to get my kids off the xbox and play with Dad's Toy Car.

This is a great Stadium truck ! its fast and durable it gets great traction and has awsome run times . The motor sound great and its got lots of power ! Dont let the price fool you you will love bashing this truck ! I have 10 rc trucks and this is not only the cheapest model I own but its the most fun to drive and very reliable . I have rc trucks that cost almost 1000$ bucks and I still love running this one ! 2 thumbs way up for Red Cat !
